Should we put in a rail system like europe has?

In order for us to improve our current rail systems we would need more people to ride them. Trouble is most people don't. Also, while it seems like creating a new rail system would be a great way to stimulate our economy, who is going to pay for it? Once again, very few people take trains anymore and the demand just isn't there.
